Crossing of Labros Katsonis

The narrow strip of land is called “the crossing of Lambros Katsonis”. It is visible to the visitor of Tzia from the picturesque Vourkari and Chora.
It was named after a Greek sailor’s exploit who deployed the lowland in August 1789 and passed his ship over the narrow passage to escape the Turks, who believed they had trapped him in the large bay of Agios Nikolaos.
